My heart and soul goes out to everyone that lost a friend, family member or sweetheart in the 9/11 attacks. The ones who lost their lives trying to be a hero God Bless you!, you will never be forgotten. It's sad that there has to be so much hate and ignorance in a world that the lord created with his love.

Firefighters are a gift from God. offen times we set back and say there just firefighter. Well I think 9-11 brought out the real meaning to the word firefigher . No careing if their lives were in danger but to save the lives of others were their goal. And many lost their lives and became heros. All because they were willing to answer the call of duty.

I cannot imagine how it must be for the many of you that are and will be affected by the incidents on Sept 11th.I find it very hard myself to watch documentaries or read books that have coverage of what happened. I want anyone who reads this to know that my thoughts are with all of the families and collegues who lost a loved one or someone who they were very close to. I will be going to America myself for the first time in summer and will be passing through New York and only wish that i could do more or be there longer. May god bless you all and lets hope that we will never see or experience anything like this ever again . Together we are stronger .

I believe that there are Angels… walking among this earth, Gentle souls, loving and giving…always putting others first. It is said these Angels… are more special than the rest, Valiant and honorable…. God only sends the very best. Selflessly helping all those in need, Silently standing…behind their good deeds. Courageous and strong…Brave in every sense of the word, The voices of the Angels of 9/11 will forever be heard. And while these Angels now quietly guard our heavens and skies, Their memories shall forever live on inside… Of every child, loved one and every soul they touched Simply said …to the Heroic Angels of 9/11… Thank you so very much.

I am still in shock that this tradegy happen to our great nation. I remember when I had heard that this happened,I was sitting in my first period class and the principal came on the loud speaker and told us all what was happening. We then said a prayer for our country and had a moment of silence. All I could think of was my family and friends and all of my other loved ones. I think that before this happened, we took our loved ones and etc for granted and id not really appreciate them. Every state, every person was hit by this tradegy. It wasn't just one peson. I know that when I gol to New York this September, I will be thinking of all of the people who lost their lives on 9-11-01. I know that when I look at my dad and what a hero is he is for being a Police Officer, I think of how lucky I really am, top have him and to have my mom. I have a friend who is in the Army and he thought how could a person do this? It just isn't right. God Bless the U.S.A.!!!!

Here's hoping Todd Beamer wouldn't have minded us using his "famous final words and catch - phrase" or the rallying cry "LET'S ROLL" or "Is everyone ready LET'S ROLL" (that is if he was said to have said that) in this context or of calling for an investigation into things such as why the buildings fell so as to make sure that such an event would be less likely to happen again as well as to lobby to have ALL airline crews do what the pilot of United Flight 564 did or advise passengers on how they could fend off highjackers so people would be less likely to have to worry about some nutbar highjacking THEIR FLIGHT.

What occured on September 11 was a very tragic and sooo many innocent people were killed. I am very young but i have so many questions about why Bin Laden did this and why he chose our country. I am very confused about why this happened. My parents have told me very much but it is not enough to settle how I feel for the families and friends of the victims. What happened on September 11 was a very tragic thing. By watching all the news and everything it gave me a whole new look on my country. Yes I'm sad all those people died but it gave a lot of people in this country an awakening which will help us over come stuff in the future. So yes Bin Laden may have killed all those americans but there's one thing he didn't kill that was our spirt as American's.

A lot of innocent people died and suffered on September 11th, all of whom didn't deserve it. Maybe I'm just 14, and am too young too fully understand the complexity of it, but I do understand that the Americans will need all the help, sympathy and understanding we can give. We cannot change the past, but we can mold the future

It is now 5 months since 9/11 and the pain I felt that day is still with me and my family. My brother, Lt. Joseph Leavey of Ladder 15 gave his life for others on that day. We are very proud of the hero but miss terribly the brother, son, husband, father, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. We are living with the sadness and pain of missing our Joseph, so very much. Please keep your prayers going for all of us who are so sad. I would like to praise and thank all the dedicated, beautiful and loving individuals who have been working so dedicatedly down at Ground Zero. They were responsible for finding our Joseph and we are deeply appreciative of these true acts of selfless caring and concern for their fellow man. May God bless and watch over all of them and all of their families. Sincerely, Nora Coco, Rochester, NY

I thought the nightmares would have ended by now. They haven't. I felt like I lost so many family members back on September 11th that my entire world was ending. I didn't know a single victim, but I've cried a hundred times for everyone of them. Since September 11th, every tradegy I see on TV seems to affect me in a personal way. The madmen that did this to us have cut deeper than they know. I've heard stories in the news about Russian units wiped out in Chechnya. All hailing from the same town and I wondered how the people in that town felt. Now I know. I'm not the same person I was on September 10th. None of us will ever be. God bless all of us. And God protect the survivors and those left behind from that terrible day.

I LOVE YOU EVERYONE, I AM SO SORRY FOR THE VICTUMS AND FAMILIES TO THESE TRAGIC EVENTS. I DON'T KNOW WHY THESE TERRORISTS DO NOT CARE AND ARE SO EVIL. IT IS ALL THE WORK OF SATAN AND GOD WILL DESTROY HIM IN THE END. REMEMBER, WE WIN, WE DO- MANY BAD THINGS HAPPEN AND I WANT TO TAKE THEM AWAY AND GET REVENGE, I CAN'T. GOD WILL AND YOU WILL BE WITH YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS AGAIN BECAUSE OF HIM. THEY ARE NOT GONE, BUT ABOVE YOU, LOVING YOU, WAITING TO SEE YOU. IF I COULD DO ANYTHING I WOULD, I PRAY AND GIVE MONEY BUT THAT IS ALL I KNOW TO DO. MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH ALL OF YOU EVERYDAY STILL. I AM SO SORRY AND I WANT NOTHING BUT WONDERFUL THINGS FOR ALL OF YOU. MANY PEOPLE ARE BEHIND YOU AND SUPPORT YOU THAT YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW. I LOVE YOU ALL AND GOD WILL BLESS YOUR LIVES, JUST DO NOT LEAVE HIM, HE DOESN'T CONTROL THE EVIL AND I DON'T KNOW WHY HE EVEN CREATED THOSE NASTY HUMAN BEINGS. I remain deeply saddened by the heinous terrorist attacks upon our country on Septembet 11, 2001! Each one who perished and whose families survive the deaths of their loved ones, is remembered by me...along with others world-wide! The trauma and grief that accompanies these horrendous events upon innocent men, women and children on that fateful Tuesday morn, remain engraved upon my heart for eternity! As an "Organ Donor Mother" who gave "THE GIFT OF LIFE" by donating the organs of my only son who passed away the day after his 22nd birthday in October, 1994...followed by his Father's death from an unidentified aneurism four months later, perhaps makes me more vulnerable to each of you, yet possibly more understanding of all who lost their lives, and for all of the families who survive! All of you remain in my daily thoughts and prayers, as having experienced great personal loss, also including my oldest sister, my mother-in-law and my beloved Mother, I needed to find methods of coping in order to get through each day that followed their loss and burial. Many of you now find yourself in the same situation, and my heart goes out to you. The grief process remains individual, yet at the same time, similar for each participant. Denial is perhaps the worst reaction for a survivor to feel...for when reality surfaces, the tantamount problems that generally follow seen unbearable! Writing, although I became blocked after my beloved son's death, has been an outlet for me often in the form of personal journals. There, I can safely express my feelings, reactions, or anything to do with the loss of my loved ones without sharing my innermost feelings. To that end, I have stopped doing and teaching writing since my personal tragedies; yet, I also learned that, when a survivor is ready, it helps to find a "group" who suffer similar losses with whom, when the mourner is ready and not before, he/she may 'safely' share feelings without being judged! The process is not easy...but the death of our loved ones was not easy! I still see visions of NYFD, NYPD and Fr. Mychal Judge going into the 'towering infernos" once called The World Trade Center, climbing smoke filled stair cases as workers tried to get to safety by exiting down the same staircases! These men and women, including EMS, clergy, etc., represent the true heroes of our country on a daily basis...and they are to be forever enshrined upon our memories and in our hearts! To see the crystal New Year's Ball in NYC engraved with the names of those who passed away on 9/11/01 will remain a chilling reminder ingrained within my memory forever! May G-d bless each of the survivors and each of their loved ones who perished from the heinous attacks on 9/11/01! Joseph Addison said about heroes: "Unbound courage and compassion proclaim him good and great, and make the hero and the man complete." Each member of the NYFD, NYPD, Clergy, Emergency Workers, etc., fall into this category! What also has great meaning for me is Oscar Wilds's quote: "Where there is sorrow, there is holy ground." For me, what once existed as the Twin Towers, in which my husband and I dined and also took our young children for a "nonalcoholic drink" prior to our evening plans at Windows of the World, these burildings also known as The World Trade Center, and more recently Ground Zero, is indeed "...holy ground". I seem to recall former Mayor R. Guiliani say something similar after this tragedy! His compassion and leadership appeared to me to be of superior quality, and he certainly deserves our thanks for his professional leadership, his caring and his love of NYC and of his fellow man! We have much to remember as a country, and much that we learned from the events of this nightmare. We owe it to those who perished, as well as to our children, grandchildren, etc., to continue to try to put an end to terrorism throughout the world! We owe it to their memories to stand together...shoulder to shoulder...arm in arm..united as Americans! May G-d bless the memory and lives fulfilled of all who perished on 9/11/01; May G-d give continued strength to those families who survive the loss of loved ones that fatal day; May G-d give to each of us as Americans the strength to unite as one and again look forward to hearing "freedom ring" in the "land of the free and the home of the brave"! G-d bless you one and all, and may He continue to bless our great country, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! (Any survivor family members are welcome to e~mail me if you think it will help you in the process of healing! I am here fore you, as others were there for me after my great loss. In the meantime, you remain in my daily prayers! May the Lord give you continued strength!) YOU ARE REMEMBERED! YOU ARE NOT ALONE! SUSAN T. FASTEAU BOCA RATON, FL (BORN & RAISED IN NJ!)

We owe it to those who perished, as well as to our children, grandchildre, etc., to continue to try to put an end to terrorism throughout the world! I remain deeply saddened by the heinous terrorist attacks upon our country on Septembet 11, 2001! Each one who perished and whose families survive the deaths of their loved ones, is remembered by me...along with others world-wide! The trauma and grief that accompanies these horrendous events upon innocent men, women and children on that fateful Tuesday morn, remain with me for eternity. As an "Organ Donor Mother" who gave "THE GIFT OF LIFE" by donating the organs of my only son who passed away the day after his 22nd birthday in October, 1994...followed by his Father's death from an undetermined aneurism four months later, perhaps makes me more vulnerable, yet understanding, to all who lost their lives, and for all of the families whi survive! My heart, my soul, and prayers go out to all those that had suffered the attack, and those that were killed. I know the pain is something that can not be described, but there are many people all over the world that feel for you and pray for you every day. The United States of America had become an even stronger state because of this. I know that red white, and blue banner with those shinny bright stars will continue to wave in the air forever. God bless all of those in the USA. Never lose faith and always keep hope. My prayers go out to all of those involved in the September 11th tradegy. God loved you with all of his heart. The USA is the strongest nation in the world and always will be!!! Love Carolyn

Here's a poem I thought appropriate for all of the families who've lost loved ones.......My Christmas In Heaven..... I see countless Christmas Trees around the world below with tiny lights like heaven's stars, reflecting on the snow. The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away the tear, for I am spending Christmas with Jesus this year. I hear many Christmas songs that people hold so dear, but the sound of music can't compare with the choir up here. I have words to tell you, the joy their voices bring, for it is beyond description to hear the angels sing. I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart, but I am not so far away: we really aren't apart. So be happy for me, dear ones; you know I hold you dear, and be glad I'm spending Christmas with Jesus this year. I sent you each a special gift, from my heavenly father above, I sent you each a memory of my undying love. After all, life is an gift more precious than puregold, it was always most important in the stories Jesus told. Please love each other, as I always said to do, for I can't count the blessing or the love he has for each of you. So have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear, remember~ I am spending Christmas with Jesus this year. ~ Author Unknown ~ Merry Christmas and God Bless You All ~This Holiday Season~

It saddens me to think that people around the world are only now thinking of our POLICE OFFICERS, FIRE FIGHTERS, and EMT's---and ALL EMERGENCY PERSONNEL as heros. My father was a deputy with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department and let me tell you--EACH and EVERY day their lives are put on the line and no one seems to care or to give it a second thought because 'it's their job'. These people ARE heros..always have been and always will be. I guess the 'silver lining' in the 9/11/01 attacks is that it finally brought all this heroism to light and now and only now do all people, not only the families, appreciate what they do day in and day out. GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AS YOU ALWAYS HAVE DONE AND ALWAYS WILL DO.

Here on this three month anniversary of the terrorist attack on our country, we still live as if it was yesterday. Still looking over our shoulder. Still overly concious of everyone and everything around us. Still deathly afraid that it will happen again. Still saddened beyond belief. We mourn--we pray--we go on. We can not and should not let the terrorist run and ruin our lives like that. What comes around goes around and there's hell to pay for what they've done to our country and to the world and they're paying it right now. Soon the main leader of terrorism will be 'caught' and then we and our allies can concentrate on terrorism in the rest of the world. Be proud America for coming together and uniting as one. Be proud World for coming together and uniting as one. Never before in the history of the world has there been such worldwide unity and worldwide commitment and dedication. We have our emotions..our fears..our tears--and it's alright. Just don't let them run our lives. Live life as you've never lived it before. This has definitely driven the point home that live is precious and can be taken away at the hand of someone else in just seconds. Live and live again. Stand united...Stand proud...Stand as one.....LET PEACE AND FREEDOM RING....GOD BLESS AMERICA... GOD BLESS THE WORLD.

Words cannot express how I feel or have felt for the last few weeks. My heart hurts in ways I never thought it could. I can only imagine how all those that have lost a loved one must feel. I feel like I have lost someone very close to me and I wish I could bring them back. I am deeply sorry too all of those that are affected by this. I wish I could take away all the pain. I really wish. But all I can do is say that everyone is in my heart today, tomorrow and always. To all my brothers and sisters, God Bless you! "Gone but not forgotton." Love you all!!!

Fireman's Prayer When I am called to duty, God, whenever flames may rage; Give me strength to save some life, whatever be its age. Help me embrace a little child before it is too late Or save an older person from the horror of that fate. Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout, And quickly and efficiently to put the fire out. I want to fill my calling and to give the best in me, To guard my every neighbor and protect his property. And if, according to my fate, I am to lose my life; Please bless with your protecting hand my children and my wife.

"THE UNKNOWN BROTHER" Amidst the smoke and debris I hold a hand I cannot see. This hand I hold is a friend, not foe It is of my Brother, this hand I hold. I know not my Brother's name It does not matter, we are all the same. We fight together side by side We fight for honor and for pride. We are firefighters young and old We all live by the same code. Terror and fear fill our heads But we forge on, we are not dead. We will survive, we will prevail My Brother and I will not die in this Hell. I will hold my Brother's hand until the day my life ends For he does the same for me My Brother, My Friend. Dedicated to the Firefighters who lost their lives so that others may live. My heart is sad about what happened on 9/11/2001. All the innocent people hurt or killed because they were living their lives and just happened to be in or around the World Trade Center or Pentagon. What I am most sad about is all the Fireman and Policeman killed or injured because they were doing their jobs and trying to help people out of the buildings and/or they were helping the injured. My father was a Fireman and as a little girl he was my own personal hero. As horrible as this act of violence on America was, people now see what Firemen have always been to me and that is.....Hero's. I hope and I pray that as a Nation we can work throught this horrible time and come out of this a stronger Nation and better Americans.

My Heart Goes Out to all of our sister's & brothers who have given their time and energy to the Tradgedy of Our Country On Sept.11,01,What happen that day should never have even happen...Bin Laden will have to meet his maker some day, if he doesn't see Justice before then..Any man ,woman, or child who died for their country from this Terror Of Bin Laden, My Heart goes out to you and your Families, My heart is with every Policeman,PoliceWoman,Firefighters,Emt,Redcross Workers, who have given their time to help make it a little easier on The People Of New Your City, and to every Volunteer who has worked hours just to hekp the people hurt in this Tragedy.God is with each and everyone of you, walking with each step you take. And The Angel's are their also out helping each of you..I saw Angel's In The Photo's that have been taken, U also saw Pictures of Evil in the smoke, I know I am not the only one too have seen these Pictures,Nor do I believe for one moment someone would do this for pure fun, what I do believe is we saw Pictures of the devil in them pictures lurking around as he does when their is evel committed as he always have done, I also saw Angels out their helping the people some in Biblical form and others in human form, I trully believe this was a act from Bin Laden and his followers and they will all have to face God before they walk thru those pearly gates of Heaven someday...as for them saying their living as God wanted them to...That is a bunch of Bull..Woman and children were killed in this terrist tragedy of his...God never said for him to go kill his Children,God is good and he would never ask anyone to do this,I do believe Bin Laden thinks he may be the anti-Christ we have all read about, and if he is ...go to revelations in your Bible and read what it says about this anti-christ..And The Readings of Nostradamus are very true, Their have been many Phrophets in our world and Nostradumas was one of them, as we all know the Bible stopped before Nostradumas was born but the Lord said their will be many prophets after me who will lead you to me...and to not believe of evil or false gods..Such as ((Bin Laden))..Nostradumas never ask you to believe him , he only predicticted what he saw happening in the future...he never put a date down behind in the 15th century dates weren't as we know today. Also in Biblical times Dates arent as we know today...I was Born and Bred Southern Baptist, then turned to Missionary Baptist as a teenager, after I got out of High School I studied Astrology for 2 years, I also believe in the Myths are related to our daily lives from the moon and stars,Its not all true and I dont expect anyone to take it to heart if you dont understand it...But the stars will point to Bin Laden coming and its been predicted in Mythology about other wars after this one...Many wars will be faught...The war we are entering now is a religious war..Bin Laden believes we all should belong as one religion..((His)) we believe differently for we weren't raised as he was...I could go on and on but won't...Its something that really angers me about this man who has taken so many lives for a cause he doesn't even know why hiself...Then glorifies as **God ask him to do it** God would never ask any one to kill his children...Bottom of line...May God be with you and Yours and we will see Justice in the End with Bin Laden & His followers...Stay United Keep those flags flying,And may God be with you at all times in our strength to over throw this man & his followers and let them know USA is One Nation Under God,With Justice For All,& We will not be divided...Huggs Gail & Family to My USA Family and all my Brothers and Sisters all over this world who stand with us..Huggs & Lots Of Love ((Gail))

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fotress; My God in him I will trust." Surely he shall deliver you fromt he snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. HE SHALL COVER YOU WITH HIS FEATHERS, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. YOU SHALL NOT BE AFRAID OF THE TERROR BY NIGHT NOR THE ARROW THAT FLIES BY DAY,NOR OF THE PESTILENCE THAT WALKS IN DARKNESS, NOR OF THE DESTRUCTION THAT LAYS WASTE AT NOONDAY. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked. Light is sown for the righteous, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge. Even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; FOR HE SHALL GIVE HIS ANGELS CHARGE OVER YOU. To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known my name. HE SHALL CALL UPON ME, AND I WILL ANSWER HIM; I WILL BE WITH HIM IN TROUBLE; I WILL DELIVER HIM AND HONOR HIM. WITH LONG LIFE I WILL SATISFY HIM, AND SHOW HIM MY SALVATION." Psalm 91 My prayer is that God will be with you and help each and every heart that was touched by this horrific crime. I pray that everyone will turn to the Lord and not away from him. May God touch and protect each and every person. God bless you all.

To all who lost loved ones in this tragedy - please know your loved ones did not die in vain. This sorrowful act has done something that the politicians and religious leaders in our county have been unable to do - bring us together. The sorrow across this country and across many other countries - the compassion and generosity that has been shown - is a tribute to those who lost their lives. My thoughts and prayers are with all who lost loved ones. May you find the strength to carry on throughout this difficult time. Please know that many mourn with you and pray for you. Bless you.

When the limited vocabulary of mankind is unable to adequately express its feelings about the satanic and demonic attack upon the citzens of the USA and the world, it is then that the spirit speaks in a language of God's understanding. Almighty God shall hear and understand the message that words can't convey. When you weep, He knows what you mean, when your spirit groans, He knows your pain and sorrow, He knows your loss. He has reclaimed your prescious jewels, and now they are safe forever. The ghoulish creatures who contrived this abomination, are cursed in this existance, and dammed forever in the next. Behold how powerful they are, they can kill the body, but not the soul, and yet there is One who can kill the body AND the soul. Try to forgive these evil people, for then Almighty God shall heap hot coals upon their heads. I know forgivness shall be the last thing on the majority of peoples minds, mainly because of the appalling loss of innocent life, and absolute savagery of the indescriminate attacks. It is now our faith shall be tested, forgivness is the pathway walked by Jesus Christ, all other pathways lead to destruction of the soul. The terrorists, the apostles of satin, have destroyed the body, do not allow them to destroy the soul by travelling their pathway of darkness. My heart is pierced and full of sorrow for the tragic victims of this crime against God and humankind, my spirit weeps tears of compassion and sympathy for the families who must carry this cross forever. It may be some small comfort to know that countless thousands from all nations, people of principle, honour and integrity, share your pain and sorrow as does Almighty God, for did He not send His angels of mercy to the side of your loved ones, the fire fighters, the paramedics, the police and civillians, many of whom lost their lives in a truly Christian manner. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. From the ashes then emerged a mighty warrior, His name was Justice and he held a two edged sword.....Uh Oh

I am appalled at the savage inhumanity of supposedly Godfearing people. There is no religion on the face of this earth which advocates murder of the self or the murder of innocents. The callous and ruthless actions of this misguided terrorist network can, at best, only be described as satanic, and that is probably paying them a compliment. It is a notable fact that Osama Bin Laden, the hero of certain sections of the Islamic world, has never offered himself as a suicide bomber or suicide pilot, and likewise all the other high ranking advocates of violence. President Bush will know, the best way to kill a serpent is to cut of the head(s), and one can only hope that the men who gave the orders to carry out this crime against humanity are the prime targets of this unavoidable war on terrorism. Finally, my prayers and heartfelt sympathy are with the families of the victims and the heroes, and with every nation who has lost its citzens in this act of insanity.

My heart is heavy today both with intence grief ond tremendous pride. This past week has shown the world just what it means to be an American. It is not a location or a piece of paper but the fundamental fibers that make up each one of us. it is not the color of our skin or the shape of our eyes or who are parents were. it is the belief that we are one people under God Indivisible. We were made to show the world that we are not buildings or money but one hand helping another without question or without compensation. We gave our very lives to help complete strangers some not even Americans. Yes we are saddened but this country was not founded on a free whim it was bought and paid for buy are Fathers at a horrific price and this week we have been made to see it may be time to make anothe installment on the price of freedom. all those who lost their lives will be remembered not only by their families but by the world. God Bless all that are grieving and remember to pray for those who are about to defend are right to remain a safe harbor. Show the world that we are Proud to be American.

The islamic terrorists network who carried out the acts of savagery against the USA and the citzens of the world are not familiar with the Koran. In the Koran it clearly states that suicide and murder of innocents are forbidden. It follows that terrorist suicide pilots and suicide bombers who shed innocent blood shall not see Paradise, rather they shall see only eternal dammnation, so it written in the Koran. These individuals are being indoctrinated with false scripture by false teachers who by their actions are anti-Islam, and have brought the Koran and the entire Islamic peoples into disrepute and contempt by their evil deceptions. It rests with the Islamic peoples to purge this evil from the Islamic faith, for if they sit back and do nothing, the evil within shall destroy them all. There is much good in Islam, but it remains to be seen if it can triumph over the evil and corruption within. Sincere sympathy and condolences are extended to the families of innocent victims of Islamic fundamentalism, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.

JAMES T. TUSO Retired Sheriff of Mendocino County September 19, 2001 To The Members Of Law Enforcement ,The Fire~Rescue Services and the Emergency Medical Services The news flash breaks in and announces the tragedy. We watch as the story unfolds and witness America under attack. Hundreds and hundreds of people were killed in the first of four separate terrorists attacks. We stood in horror, reflecting on what had happened, wondering how quickly it would happen again.... wondering where the next target would be.... wondering how many more innocent people would lose their lives. We began to grieve for the victims and their families. As the members of the New York Police Department, Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene of the first attack, they were met with a mountainous task. Undaunted, by the severity of the crisis, these heroic individuals began to ascend the crippled tower, assisting people as they climbed towards the area of the fire. They did so knowing that they were going in Harms Way. They knew the dangers and risks inherent to their mission. They did so because they were professionals. United they stood as they entered the fields of destruction. Thousands of people began to evacuate. Thousands would be successful in their race to safety. Many more would perish. Many would help their friends and fellow workers and visitors down and out of the two crippled and burning buildings. All of us felt pain, anger, anguish and sorrow at what we were witnessing. We felt it for those who we have never had the opportunity of knowing or working with. We would hope and we would pray that this would be the last, but the tragedy continued with the attack on the second World Trade Center Tower. In the moments that ensued, over 250 members of the police, fire and emergency medical services would fall victim to the worst act of terrorism in the United States when the towers collapsed onto them. Their ranks have been thinned, but they are not alone. They will have each other to rely on. And in doing so, they will be walking in the footsteps of heroes. These heros will be there silently guiding and protecting them as they, with heads held high, continue to carry on the tradition of a proud profession. Though words at this time cannot heal the pain and anguish of their loss, they can gain comfort in knowing that countless people across America grieve their tremendous loss and share their deep sorrow. My thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends and fellow brothers and sisters of the New York City Police and Fire Departments, the New York City Port Authority Police and the New York City Emergency Medical Services. We shall not forget their heroic deeds. My heartfelt condolences are extended to the families and friends of all victims of this terrorist act. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the emergency service and medical personnel, the rescue workers and volunteers, and the countless other individuals who have been, and remain, at the these sites of mass destruction. Many of these brave people have been injured doing what they do best.... serving their community at great personal risk to themselves. I salute these workers for the courage and dedication they have shown under one of the most difficult of times in our nations history. May the members of law enforcement, the fire~rescue services, and the members of the emergency medical services go in Godspeed and out of Harms Way. Thank you for being there in our time of need. Thank you for having the courage to do what you do best.... placing the lives of others before your own. As a former member of the public safety community, I remain proud to have served and associated with such courageous and dedicated professionals. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. My heart breaks for all the firefighters, rescue workers, police officers, parents, children and family and friends who have been struck by this horrid, inimaginable terror. I met some of the world's bravest - NY's own Firefighters from the station on 40th or 41st Streets. I lost their address but desperately want to give my heartfelt condolences to ALL the firefighters and let them know that I feel the pain as well, and I will let the firefighters (that I do know) know how much I appreciate them and what they do. Maybe we should all thank them for allowing us to live one more day safely.
